History

“Education should help in building your character, improving your intellect, giving you strength to face life and making you stand tall with courage in your heart”.

I know that is what St. Antony’s has been constantly endeavouring to do during the last 18 years of its existence. There is stress on balance between all aspects of personality development, with special attention being paid to the nurturing of value based principles. It is heartening to meet students after they leave school and to hear them credit their Alma Mater for the values they have imbibed.

During the last few years St. Antony’s School has made great strides in encouraging the development of sports skills as well as cultural talents in the students. The result is seen in the many laurels that the students have won at the Pratibha Karanji talent contest at inter school, district and state levels. In the sports field too, our students have excelled at the inter school, district and regional levels in events like Volley ball, Throw ball, Foot ball, Kabaddi, Badminton ect. One boy reached the state level with long jump.

In enhancing the intellectual capacity of the students, the teachers have spared no efforts and their hard work has given the school cent percent results during the last many years.

I want to congratulate the teaching and non teaching staff members who spare no effort to do their very best to raise the standard of the school. Their vision, zeal and energy has enhanced both the creative intelligence of the students as well as their sense of civic and social responsibility towards society.

I have witnessed amazing collaboration between management, staff, students and parents and this has a positive influence on the general ambience of the school.

Inspite of the initial adjustments to the new surroundings, it has been a pleasure to interact with students both in the class room and on the grounds. Their simplicity, smile and boundless energy has recharged me whenever I crossed their path.

I want to thank God who has been merciful to us in blessing us with numerous graces and keeping all of us in his loving and protective hands. May our work and life give glory to Him.

May St. Antony’s School grow from strength to strength, continuing to be a beacon of light and wisdom to all who enter its portals. May St. Antony shower his blessings on everyone so that they make a difference in the lives of others and contribute to the well being of society.

May God bless each one of you.

History of St. Antony’s School

The path which was trodden..
Hosadurga is one of the backward Taluks of Chitradurga district in Karnataka. It is situated 70 K.M south of Chitradurga and 200 K.M east of the state capital Bangalore.

A humble beginning..
In Hosadurga the villages are spread out and the distance from one village to the other is almost 6 to 10 kms. Only few villages are situated at the main roads and most of the villages do not have road and other facilities. The Institute at Hosadurga works round the clock for the upliftment of the poor, the least and the downtrodden.

Illiteracy is one of the hurdles in the low economic progress of human person. Ignorance carries one to doom than to boom. The literary rate of the Taluk is 55.78% and among the SC/STs the rate of literacy is still lower. Since the literates in the Taluk are very less, with no proper educational facilities and awareness, people are unaware of their responsibilities. Learning about such adverse conditions, the process of planning to start a school was initiated with a view to help the poor, the least and the downtrodden.

The school began with a view mainly to eradicate illiteracy. It started in a small shed with 9 students, but today it is a compact building with a strength more than 1400 students.

St. Antony’s school is located on the outskirts of Hosadurga town, surrounded by rocky hills and by a serene environment. Originally the locality was little known for its non inhabitation

St. Antony’s, a distinguished school was founded in 1997 - 1998. It was a long run plan implemented by Rev. Fr. Stany Mariyappa under the skilled and able guidance of Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Pinto, the then Bishop of Shimoga.

Today the school is becoming known to everyone by its motto “Love and Service”. Love is an act of faith and whoever is of little faith is also of little love. By this, every student is expected to develop an attitude of concern and sharing towards other children. ‘Service that we render to others is really the rent we pay for our room on this earth. By this every student is expected to cultivate the broad mindedness of putting his knowledge at the service of others. The motto of the school is a thrust for every activity and in instilling human values.

Based on this motto our school works for an all round development of every child providing an opportunity to realize his/her responsibility to become a worthy citizen of tomorrow.

The idea behind any educational institution is to provide for its students the maximum exposures and opportunities. We are proud to say that our school provides the best possible infrastructure and facilities for a conducive learning. We rejoice in the success we have achieved through these years.

Our school comprises a band of teachers who are committed and are the spirit behind the institution with their spirit of dedication, commitment and hard work have excelled in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Thinking well is wise; planning well is wiser; doing well is the best of all. Under an able and skillful guidance of our school management and manager, our school moves forward to attain the desired objectives up to the expectation.

It comprises of cabinet members such as S.P.L (School Pupil Leader), Sports Leader, D.S.P.L (Deputy School pupil Leader), Health Leader and Discipline Leader. To encourage team spirit and discipline the school is divided into various groups such as Blue, Yellow, Green, and Red.

Prathibha karanji is one of such example, which provides platform to exhibit student’s capacity and capabilities. Our students have participated in various competitions at zonal, Taluk and district and have brought laurels to school.

Through this event certain amount is collected which is used for the education of the poorest children.

To establish good rapport with the students who take leave of us, alumni association is encouraged. The Alma Mater will guide and inspire our old students to persevere in their studies and to achieve their goal successfully.

School Community:
The school conducts summer camp for all the children at Hosadurga giving them moral values, awareness programmes, Career advancement programmes etc.

For the parent’s, awareness programmes such as Health, Hygiene, and Education etc., are conducted.

The staff and management of the school go in and around Hosadurga community to share the skills, talents and all the resources for the good of all people.

This is loved by all communities irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The school management and teachers make the visit to all the families of the children to know their background and their whereabouts and to decide the real beneficiaries of the schemes available in the school especially for the least.

Conclusion:
We express our sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude to all our students, parents, well wishers of our school without whose help we would not have been in a position to maintain high standard of education and discipline in our school. We take this opportunity to commit ourselves to do our best to serve this locality through quality education. We seek the blessings from the God Almighty to help and guide us in the future. May our patron St. Antony intercede for us always.
